It has been said that "golf is a good walk spolied". Whilst that may be so, but when the British Open championship is held at St Andrews every five years, it generates a good deal of extra traffic. The morning of the Saturday was the best weather wise so I took advantage and out I went. 17/7/2010

    Another down HST set clears the trees at Sweetholme and heads for Aberdeen. The working is 1S03 0710 off Leeds making it the first East Coast arrival in Aberdeen. The train will be well loaded with extra passengers for the golf.
    Two other photographers stand beside the line to record the passing of the trains. 43314 is the trailing powercar with 43316 leading.
    A lull of 23 minutes between trains now as the traffic dies down and at 1143 play would have started on the Old Course. The sun has returned and shines down on 43318 and 43329 working 1E14 0952 from Aberdeen to Kings Cross.
