It has been said that "golf is a good walk spolied". Whilst that may be so, but when the British Open championship is held at St Andrews every five years, it generates a good deal of extra traffic. The morning of the Saturday was the best weather wise so I took advantage and out I went. 17/7/2010

    The next down train is one of the loco hauled sets and 67019 hauls 6 mkII coaches that normally forms one of the Edinburgh - Fife Circle morning and evening commuter services. This working is 1Z17 0930 from Edinburgh to Leuchars golf special.
    An up timetabled train approaches the level crossing with a pair of class 170 turbostars, 170404 and 170411, forming a strengthened 1L58 0942 Dundee to Edinburgh.
    The trains were coming fast and very frequently with some trains running out of course. This is 1A55 0933 from Edinburgh to Aberdeen formed with 170429 and 170395, strengthened for the golf.
