Also present at the gala is the NRM's immensely popular V2 2-6-2 4771 "Green Arrow". Here it is about to burst from the tunnel with the 1040 Grosmont departure to Pickering.
4771 was seeing out the last few days of its boiler ticket at the gala prior to its withdrawal from traffic. Caretaker Ray Towell looks out from the cab as his charge takes the tight right hand curve before digging into the gruelling 2 1/4 mile 1 in 49 climb to Goathland.
Another sunny day which lasted into the afternoon. 60019 departs Grosmont with the 1350 to Pickering as seen through the 146 yard long tunnel. 30/3/08
