The Great Britain Rail tours

In April of 2007 the Railway Touring Company, with West Coast Railways, ran an ambitious series of separate railtours which covered the whole country hauled by several different steam locomotives on consecutive days, they called it "The Great Britain". What started out as a one off has repeated itself every year since. I have been involved with several of them as support crew with A4 60009 and K4 61994 and photographed others when able.

    Up in the tender coal space is Graeme Page and Mike Mather, John Lynch is on the front running board, owner John Cameron chatting to a couple by the fence.
    Moving to Dairsie now and after the water stop No9 heads on to Edinburgh. Here the train passes through the location of the long closed Dairsie station which shut its doors on 20/9/1954. Only the loading bank and weighbridge house remain.
    The train blasts along the level track here with its 12 coach train on the drawbar. I'm sure the punters would have had a good run down from Aberdeen.
