2009 Swanage Railway Diesel Gala rd

Every year on the first weekend after the May Bank Holiday, the Swanage Railway hosts its now famous diesel gala and beer festival. Wall to wall diesel action with visiting locos and the home fleet mixed in with a beer festival. With a weekend of clear skies and constant sunshine and a stunning selection of fine ales, what could be better? 8-10/5/2009

    The formation is quite wide here, wide enough for double track. Most rail under bridges were built to enable double track to be laid if needed but Corfe Viaduct was never so, it was always just wide enough for a single line.
    Crossing back over the road at Afflington and the next up train appears. 45060 hauls 2N16 1350 off Swanage for Norden.
    Many heads can be seen at the train windows taking in the Sulzer thrash, also in the short period of time since the class 20 had passed, the sun has come out......nice!
