2009 Swanage Railway Diesel Gala

Every year on the first weekend after the May Bank Holiday, the Swanage Railway hosts its now famous diesel gala and beer festival. Wall to wall diesel action with visiting locos and the home fleet mixed in with a beer festival. With a weekend of clear skies and constant sunshine and a stunning selection of fine ales, what could be better? 8-10/5/2009

    BRCW type 2 26007 drops down at 1 in 80 over the common and passes the fixed up distant semaphore by the occupation bridge. This train is 2N09 1150 from Swanage to Norden.
    Whistling round the bend onto the common is English Electric type 1 20107 with the shuttle 2H08 1210 Norden to Harmans Cross with 33103 on the rear.
    On the return working from Harmans Cross, 2N10 1225 off, to Norden and snowplough fitted 33103 leads. There is no requirement for such a fitting this weekend as the weather has been perfect.
