After a break to cross a northbound freight and to refill tenders and bring coal forward, the steam working sets off again. Departing Crianlarich the line climbs for a mile or so at 1 in 66 so southbound trains have a spell of hard work to start with.
The pair are steaming right on the mark with feathers at the valves of both locos as they come up the gradient.
The pair pass by and the sound was just wonderful. The staccato beat of the two 2 cylinder locos getting into and out of synchronisation was a joy to hear.
