  • This was the first day that Freightliner had taken over the contract to haul sand and aggregates having won the contract from EWS. Freightliner Heavy Haul 66544 approaches with 6W42 Dorchester West to Wool empty sand hoppers. The train is too long to run round and shunt at Wool so that is done at Dorchester West with part of the rake left there to be collected later.

  • 66544 was late getting away and as it approaches the level crossing at East Stoke a down passenger service was about to bowl it so I grabbed this quick shot of the loaded sand working 6W60 1432 Wool to Reading West Yard.
