The first of several surprise workings on this day sees 66058 at the head of the Network Rail cable train. It had stabled at Ludgershall on the remaining stub of the former Midland and South Western Railway. Here it forms 6Y41 from Ludgershall to Hoo Junction Up Yard.
A well loaded Freightliner working comes out of the slowly lifting gloom with 66541 leading 4E44 0901 Southampton Millbrook to Leeds.
The next freight is an EWS hauled one with 66125 fronting 6Y30 0810 MWFO Fawley to Holybourne empty oil tanks. This may have been an additional working as this day was a Thursday and the previous Monday was a Bank Holiday and that day's working may have been cancelled.
