I located the former station at Marchwood two weeks previously and this is the return planned for this day. 66005 passes below the up semaphore gantry with 0B41 0810 Fawley to Eastleigh Yard light engine. It had brought in tanks to the Fawley refinery nearby.
Due to the generosity and good offices of Martin the signalman I had access to the platform and his warm signalbox for the morning. 66127 approaches the down gantry and has the main line with 6X45 Ludgershall to Marchwood MoD special working of armoured vehicles for the MoD depot. The train is made up of 1 VGA stores van and 9 MoD well wagons each loaded with a 432 armoured personnel carrier.
Right on time 66127 reappears from the nearby MoD depot with 6V38 1103 off to Didcot Yard. The gantry signals are for Marchwood on the left and Fawley to the right.
