Severn Tunnel Junction and Newport

A week on the former Great Western Railway with some classic locations. To say Severn Tunnel Junction is a shadow of its former self is an understatement, whilst it is still a busy location for freight, long gone are the sidings and loco depot. Here the line from Gloucester forms a junction with the route through the Severn Tunnel, hence the name. This was my first visit to this location. 20/6/2005

    With the numbers of class 60s being stored getting higher and the working fleet getting less and less, it is always good to see a tug even if it is running light.  66028 heads west with an unknown movement.
    A very colourful Wessex Trains class 150 sprinter 150246 departs with the 1320 from Bristol Temple Meads to Cardiff Central class 2 service.  I was unable to find any headcodes for these Bristol to Cardiff trains.
    66063 returns to STJ with 6C02 1406 Bristol East Depot to Newport ADJ empty steel flats.  The green area to the right was the site of the hump yard.
