Severn Tunnel Junction and Newport

A week on the former Great Western Railway with some classic locations. To say Severn Tunnel Junction is a shadow of its former self is an understatement, whilst it is still a busy location for freight, long gone are the sidings and loco depot. Here the line from Gloucester forms a junction with the route through the Severn Tunnel, hence the name. This was my first visit to this location. 20/6/2005

    This very colourful working is 1F32 2036 Bath Spa to Cardiff Central.  I only managed to identify the first and last units, 158858 and 158863.
    The last of the sun paints a weak light on white liveried 170397 forming the 1809 departure from Nottingham to Cardiff, 1V58.  Time to turn in after a fantastic day.
