Severn Tunnel Junction and Newport

A week on the former Great Western Railway with some classic locations. To say Severn Tunnel Junction is a shadow of its former self is an understatement, whilst it is still a busy location for freight, long gone are the sidings and loco depot. Here the line from Gloucester forms a junction with the route through the Severn Tunnel, hence the name. This was my first visit to this location. 20/6/2005

    66118 ran along one of the through roads in the yard and has now positioned itself on top and been coupled onto its train.  It will depart shortly at 1925 to Warrington with an Enterprise service, 6M75.
    60028 in two tone grey livery runs past the yard and will enter at the west end.  I do not know what its working will be.
    66079 has come up from the docks with a MGR set loaded with imported coal bound for Aberthaw Power Station.  6F74 1840 off the docks, is held at the branch signal as 66118 prepares to get away with its Enterprise to Warrington.
