Milford Yard, Selby and Gascoigne Wood

Day 2 of my mini North Yorkshire tour and I start off at a place I never visited when I lived just a few miles away at RAF Church Fenton. South Milford Yard is a major stabling point for loaded and empty coal trains. Selby station is a shadow of its former self and Gascoigne Wood is just a massive white elephant with the closure of the Selby coalfield. 8/8/2006

    The going away shot of the working shows how the cab of the class 155 unit is the same as the 153 class.  In fact the single car class 153 units were constructed from class 155 sets.
    153363 and 153330 return from Selby, 2W85 1743 off, enroute for Wakefield Westgate. The line in the foreground is the access road into Gascoigne Wood.
