Milford Yard, Selby and Gascoigne Wood

Day 2 of my mini North Yorkshire tour and I start off at a place I never visited when I lived just a few miles away at RAF Church Fenton. South Milford Yard is a major stabling point for loaded and empty coal trains. Selby station is a shadow of its former self and Gascoigne Wood is just a massive white elephant with the closure of the Selby coalfield. 8/8/2006

    Brand new Desiro unit 185107 runs in for its station stop with 1K16 1342 Manchester Piccadilly to Hull service.
    The station buildings are smart and well cared for with a recent repaint. It is good that they have not been replaced with modern buildings.
    Ten minutes after the Hull bound class 185 departed, a Manchester bound set runs into the station, 185115 works 1K19 1439 Hull to Manchester Piccadilly. When the Selby Diversion opened in 1982 the line through the station was down graded and the section between Selby and York was closed.
