Lower Basildon to Didcot

Isambard Kingdom Brunel's brilliantly laid out road to Bristol via Didcot runs by the town of Lower Basildon and in steam days Goring water troughs were near here. Two sets of lines are present, the original broad gauge trace is discernable as the gap between the the two lines, the "six foot", is wider than the later set of lines.     A four vehicle class 221 Super Voyager forms VXC 1O12 0925 Manchester Piccadilly to Bournemouth working. Some class 221 sets operate with only four vehicles rather than the usual five.
    A long distance Cross Country service appears on the down fast with a class 221 Super Voyager forming 1S62 1046 Bournemouth to Edinburgh.
    Network Rail has carried out extensive lineside vegetation clearance and as a result it has opened up the shot from the bridge of trains on the down fast.
