Lower Basildon to Didcot

Isambard Kingdom Brunel's brilliantly laid out road to Bristol via Didcot runs by the town of Lower Basildon and in steam days Goring water troughs were near here. Two sets of lines are present, the original broad gauge trace is discernable as the gap between the the two lines, the "six foot", is wider than the later set of lines.     The massive cooling towers of Didcot Power Station dominate the surrounding area as 66539 heads away with 4O27 1001 MX Trafford Park to Southampton.
Following closure of the power station, these towers were demolished in 2016.
    An unknown HST speeds onto London Paddington with 1A20 1400 off Bristol Temple Meads. Passing heading west is 60097 with 6B33 1330 TThFO Theale to Robeston empty Murco petroleum tanks.
    This train was worked by EWS up until four days previously, now 6B11 1230 TO Thorney Mill to Margam empty stone hoppers is a Freightliner turn. 66616 approaches Moreton with 35 empty PGA stone hoppers on the drawbar.
