The loco carries the name "Wolverhampton Wanderers" with a nameplate in an identical design to those carried by the former LNER B17 class 4-6-0 steam loco.
A quick drive to Thornton and the train is sitting in Thornton North loop for a booked period to allow two trains to overtake. The sun glints off the side of the immaculate loco which was repainted at Eastleigh Works.
This is the first Royal Scotsman service of the year and is a three night Highland Tour. During the break here the driver usually goes for a cup of tea in the staff coaches at the rear.
