Crossing the road to see 57304 leave the spur and regain the main line and the northbound journey back to Aberdeen begins.
47790 is shut down as it passes below the bridge at the back of the 12 coach train. The driver of 57304 will open the power handle and the General Motors 12 645 E3 2,500hp powerplant will work up and accelerate the heavy train up the 1 in 94 1/2 gradient to Dalgety Bay summit.
A quick drive to Markinch and I managed to get ahead of the train and I was able to record 57304 leading the poshex over Markinch viaduct.
