  • The set pauses at a deserted Dunfermline Town station. The other station in the town was Dunfermline Upper on the former Alloa line which closed to passengers on 7/10/1968.

  • The running gear of 158733 is lost in the long grass of the embankment behind Kettlebridge. The unit is heading for Edinburgh with 1B36 1910 off Perth via the Newburgh branch. It would have left after an Inverness to Glasgow Queen Street had come into the station to connect with it.

  • A ScotRail sprinter unit, 158736, makes its Markinch stop whilst working 1B32 1310 off Aberdeen to Edinburgh. The former listed North British Railway goods shed is looking very much the worse for wear since the A4 steam loco left in 1993.  19/3/1999

  • Transrail branded 37799 emerges from beneath the A92 Thornton bypass with what I believe to be 6D10 0956 Longannet to Mossend via Thornton Yard enterprise service. If it is then it is running quite late.

  • 66113 stands at Thornton Yard and is quite literally fresh out of the box. It arrived at Newport Docks on 29th of May, less than two weeks before this photo was taken. It crossed the Atlantic Ocean from Canada on board the MV Stellamare.  12/6/1999
