English Electrics in the Highlands....mostly

A collection of locos from the stable of English Electric making an appearance predominantly in the Scottish Highlands on railtours, some are on home territory and others are treading new ground. Type 3, 4 and 5 locomotives of four different classes all feature here. Fantastic.

40145 comes out of the cutting and brings 1Z56 1806 Edinburgh to Inverness over Jamestown Viaduct. There should have been a Deltic, 55022, on the front but it suffered a powerplant failure at Doncaster on the run north from Kings Cross so was taken off and 40145 took over for what ever reason I can no longer recall. 6/10/2006
The train is seen againts an almost cloudless sky as it slowly heads north for Inverness via the Newburgh branch. The following weekend will see the tour go to the Kyle of Lochalsh and Wick and Thurso. 6/10/06.
40145 comes south through the closed station at Dalnaspidal with 1Z25 0810 Inverness to London Kings Cross. This was the only shot I took of the southbound tour north of Perth due to slow moving lorries. 9/10/2006
