ECML Peterborough to Newark

This section of the East Coast Main Line takes in a very famous stretch of track, Stoke Bank, the scene of A4 locomotive 4468 Mallard's world steam speed record breaking romp on 3rd July 1938. No high speed steam on this day but plenty of high speed in general both down and UP Stoke Bank. A nice sunny day was in the offing and I was set for a good day. 30/3/2004
