Colton Junction and Church Fenton

Week two of the 2006 summer tour and this part of the world is well known to me as I used to live at nearby RAF Church Fenton in the mid 1980's and never wanted to leave. The half Yorkshireman in me had a yearning to stay, but the RAF had other ideas and I did get moved away. This was however a great day on an old stomping ground and I relished the traction but wished I could be back in 1985.......with my digital camera. Sigh!!! 7/8/2006

Pleasant surprise No 5 is the yellow HST of the Network Rail New Measurement Train. 1Z21 MO 1312 Edinburgh to Doncaster working speeds south on the ECML with Ferrybridge power station on the horizon.
A final shot at Colton before moving on. Green liveried 158791 runs on the Up Leeds line with 1P49 1449 Middlesborough to Manchester Airport service.
Church Fenton is a very special place for me having lived there for 2 very happy years in the mid 1980's. 66548 approaches on the Up Normanton road with 6C11 Redcar to Ferrybridge power station loaded coal.
