Colton Junction and Church Fenton

Week two of the 2006 summer tour and this part of the world is well known to me as I used to live at nearby RAF Church Fenton in the mid 1980's and never wanted to leave. The half Yorkshireman in me had a yearning to stay, but the RAF had other ideas and I did get moved away. This was however a great day on an old stomping ground and I relished the traction but wished I could be back in 1985.......with my digital camera. Sigh!!! 7/8/2006

Trans Pennine 158778 passes through the station working 1P57 1601 Newcastle to Manchester Airport as Northern Trains 158758 disgourges its passengers on 1B35 1530 Blackpool North to York.
158758 carries a blue livery with a gold star and is operated by Northern Trains. The platform is now deserted as the unit powers up and departs the station.
With short trains using long platforms it means parts of the platform is now fences off and is not maintained. I have previously stood at the far end of this platform to photograph the steam hauled Scarborough Spa Expresses back in the mid 1980's.
