A busy scene at Stirling with 170470 and 158707 sitting side by side. The turbostar is northbound with 2N45 1448 Glasgow Queen Street to the small dormitory city of Dunblane. Coming in the opposite direction is the sprinter with 2P32 1527 from Dunblane to Edinburgh.
158707 gets away from Stirling heading for Edinburgh. To the left is Stirling Middle signalbox. It was opened by the Caledonian Railway on 4/8/1901 to their 1889 Northern Division design. The current 96 lever frame was installed by BR in the 1950's.
This was a surprise, Freightliner 66520 approaches the station running as 1Z99 from Mossend to Dundee. DRS 66413 seen earlier at Larbert had failed and limped into Dundee. 66520 was enroute to rescue the train.
