This was a surprise, Freightliner 66520 appraoches the station running as 1Z99 from Mossend to Dundee. DRS 66413 seen earlier at Larbert had failed and had limped into Dundee. 66520 was enroute to rescue the train.
Originally the rescue loco was to have been 47816 at Mossend but 66520 was used instead. An hour before it was seen here it was passing Ravenstruther northbound. It waits for the road by signal SN36 with Stirling North signalbox in the background.
Down starter SN36 is now off and the driver of 66520 opens his charge up to gather speed away from Stirling. It was a shame that 47816 was not given this rescue task.
