  • The driver of 150271 opens up his charge to depart the Spa town with 2H01 1706 to Manchester Piccadilly. The former LNWR station once boasted an overall roof which the far end fan tail windowed wall was part of it. The neighbouring and now demolished Midland Railway station was identical in appearance. Now it all appears very down at heel.

  • Early the next morning and at the top of the Vale of Edale are the remains of the A625 road that once ran near to Mam Tor into the Hope Valley. It has been repaired countless times but due to the constant land movement the authorities gave up and closed the road. 10/7/07

  • The "shivering mountain", Mam Tor in the early morning (05.50hrs) sunlight shows the layers of exposed gritstone and shale and evidence of numerous slips. It is a classic example of a rotational land slip and the hill moves or "shivers" after periods of heavy rain where the water has percolated down through the layers and washes through the crumbly shale rocks causing the very structure of the hill to collapse and slip. An iron age hill fort remains on top of the hill......but for how long?
