2019 Swanage Railway Diesel Gala

The annual Swanage Diesel Gala cannot be missed - Resistance is Futile! So Ross and I boldly went where we always go, to Wareham for a weekend of family, friends and fun. It would be rude not to go so we can't have that.
A weekend of stunning weather and another first for the Railway, a visit by a class 59, but for the third time class 44 peak D4 failed to arrive.

    We went back to Woodyhyde to get this working of 59003 with 73119, the last outing for the pair.
    2C14 is the 1615 Swanage departure for Corfe Castle.  The powerful type 5 loco was designed to haul stone trains in excess of 3000 tonnes, so this train of less than 300 tonnes is peanuts to it.
    And back at Afflington again and 33111 charges over the common with four on.
