2019 Swanage Railway Diesel Gala

The annual Swanage Diesel Gala cannot be missed - Resistance is Futile! So Ross and I boldly went where we always go, to Wareham for a weekend of family, friends and fun. It would be rude not to go so we can't have that.
A weekend of stunning weather and another first for the Railway, a visit by a class 59, but for the third time class 44 peak D4 failed to arrive.

    Moving down the common nearer to Corfe station and something we have not seen since they arrived on the branch, the class 59/73 combination. 59003 leads 73119 by the fixed up distant signal worming 2C04 1015 Swanage to Corfe Castle.
    For reasons not known to me the class 59 and 73 did not work trains beyond Corfe Castle. What a glorious morning scene.
    The GBRf pair have come off the four coaches and class 31 97205 is now in charge and blasts away from Corfe Castle in fine style.
