IWM Duxford

Ross and I had a superb day at the Imperial War Museum Duxford 20 odd years after our first visit. The sound of warbirds flying all day just added to the atmosphere. The vehicles in the Land Warfare building are in the Military Vehicles folder. 10/5/2022

I believe this is a replica Spitfire sitting on the corner of the footprint of the hangar destroyed in the 1968 film The Battle of Britain.
V7497 is a Hurricane Mk 1, manufactured in mid 1940 by Hawker Aircraft Ltd. Flown operationally at the very height of the Battle of Britain from the famous fighter station, RAF Kenley, East London, its service career was short lived and it was shot down by Bf 109’s over Kent on 28th September after only seven operational sorties. The airframe came to earth in Sutton and the pilot, P/O E B Rogers survived the incident by taking to his parachute.
The hangar doors are open as the Hurricane is is going to be taken out.
G-HRLI
The guy driving the tug is the pilot who is going to take the Hurricane up, why? Because he can, that's why! :-)
