IWM Duxford

Ross and I had a superb day at the Imperial War Museum Duxford 20 odd years after our first visit. The sound of warbirds flying all day just added to the atmosphere. The vehicles in the Land Warfare building are in the Military Vehicles folder. 10/5/2022

Not in a good position for photos is XV474, a McDonnell Douglas Phantom F4M in 74 Sqn markings. Also displayed are some of its armaments.
The F4 is in "Charlie" fit which is two under wing Sgt Fletcher fuel tanks, it also has a gun pod fitted on the centre line pylon. I have flown twice in the back of one of these going supersonic on the second trip.
Next to the Phantom is a Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 of the Hungarian Air Force. The MiG-21, NATO reporting name: Fishbed, is a supersonic jet fighter and interceptor aircraft, designed by the Mikoyan-Gurevich Design Bureau in the Soviet Union. The design first flew in June 1955 and went into production in 1959 until 1985 when some 11,496 were built. They are in service in many countries.
