Concorde Finale at Edinburgh Airport

The 24th October 2003 will go down as a sad day in aviation history as the final flights of Concorde were made with three landing at Heathrow within 5 minutes of each other. G-BOAG left New York, while two more made round trips, G-BOAF over the Bay of Biscay, carrying VIP guests including former Concorde pilots, and G-BOAE to Edinburgh. The three aircraft then circled over London, having received special permission to fly at low altitude, before landing in sequence at Heathrow. Several thousand people turned out at Edinburgh to witness this momentous and sad occasion. This airframe now resides at Grantley Adams International Airport, Barbados.

    "V1, V2, Rotate!"
Captain Andrew Baillie pulls back on the control yoke to lift his Speedbird off the tarmac for the last time.
"Positive rate of climb, gear up!"
G-BOAE climbs away from Edinburgh on its last ever flight in service back to Heathrow. Truly the end of an era as Concorde flies into history. An icon of British design and engineering (ok the French did a bit too), surpassed by none, is gone. Farewell!
